Former Georgia quarterback D’Wan Mathis has been named the starter for the Temple Owls.
Mathis announced his transfer to Temple in December.
Rod Carey says D'Wan Mathis has earned the No. 1 QB role for Temple over Re-al Mitchell. Not really a surprise but there was a question as to whether a starter would be named at the end of spring or the fall. Now Temple moves forward with the former Georgia QB as the No. 1.

Mathis beat out former Iowa State quarterback and Elite 11 standout Re-al Mitchell for the job.
