C.J. Smith and Jonathan Cannon combined on a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts to lead the Black squad to a 5-0 shutout and even the Bulldog Baseball Fall World Series at Foley Field.
The Red team (1-1) threatened in the second, but Smith pitched out of a bases-loaded jam. Connor Tate led off with a double. Smith came back to strike out Trippe Moore III. Shane Marshall moved Tate to third with a base hit. Then, Smith struck out Kameron Guidry. After Lane Watkins drew a walk to load the bases, Smith extinguished the rally with a strikeout of Ben Harris.
