AD Greg McGarity: Georgia needed to ‘hit the reset button’ with Mark Richt firing

Mark Richt’s tenure at Georgia has been done for over a year, but that doesn’t mean he will soon be forgotten by the Bulldogs – for good or bad.

Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity told the Atlanta Journal-Constiution in an exclusive interview published Thursday that the decision to fire Richt as the Bulldogs’ coach was made because he felt “we all needed to hit the reset button.”

“There’s a great book (by Jim Collins) – “Good to Great,” McGarity said. “What I was trying to do was to create an environment to where we could have a great football program.
