Georgia Hires Jim Chaney As New Offensive Coordinator

The Georgia Bulldogs have hired Jim Chaney away from the Pittsburgh Panthers to be the program's next offensive coordinator, per multiple media reports on Saturday. Georgia also announced the additions of Arkansas' Sam Pittman (offensive line coach) and Alabama's Glen Schumann (defensive assistant) to first-year head coach Kirby Smart's staff.

Chaney, 53, has major SEC connections. Prior to spending this year on Pat Narduzzi's staff at Pitt, Chaney spent two years at Arkansas and four at Tennessee. He's gained a reputation as an offensive savant over his 30-year coaching career, including his stint at Purdue coaching Drew Brees.

"On behalf of our entire program, I would like to thank Jim for his contributions to Pitt," Pat Narduzzi said in a press release. "His work was very important as we established our program in this first year. In addition to being an excellent football coach, he is a tremendous person and we wish him and his family the very best."

Pitt ranked just ninth in the ACC this year with 381 yards of total offense per game. However, Chaney will have plenty of recruiting tools at his disposal to be much more successful on the staff in Athens.

One big item on the docket for Chaney will be building a relationship with four-star QB recruit Jacob Eason. Kirby Smart will introduce Chaney to Eason this weekend during his visit to UGA.
