Georgetown Falls Short against No. 17 Xavier, 81-76

WASHINGTON - Georgetown rallied from an eight-point deficit late in the game and had a chance to tie with 30 seconds left but could not get the tying basket, falling to No. 17/17 Xavier, 81-76 at Verizon Center on Saturday afternoon.

It is the second-straight loss for the Hoyas, who fall to 8-6 overall and 0-2 in the BIG EAST Conference, while Xavier improves to 12-2 overall and 2-0 in the league.

Junior guard L.J. Peak (Gaffney, S.C./Gaffney) scored 21 points, grabbed six rebounds and had three assists to lead the Hoyas, while graduate student guard Rodney Pryor (Evanston, Ill.
