Derrickson Scores 26, Georgetown Falls to Providence, 76-70

Providence, R.I. - Georgetown battled back from a seven-point halftime deficit to take a lead early in the second half, but could not hang on as Providence used a late run to break open a close game, handing the Hoyas a 76-70 defeat at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center Wednesday night.

The Hoyas, who have lost three-straight games, fall to 8-7 overall and 0-3 in the BIG EAST Conference, while Providence improves to 11-5 overall and 1-2 in league play.

Sophomore forward Marcus Derrickson (Bowie, Md./Brewster Academy [N.H.]) scored 26 points, including 21 in the second half, and grabbed six rebounds to lead Georgetown, while graduate student guard Rodney Pryor (Evanston, Ill.
