Jacob Hollins was still sleeping at 5 a.m. Wednesday when his phone started vibrating. So he turned over and picked it up.
It was an Illinois recruiting coordinator, who then handed the phone to Illini head coach Lovie Smith.

“We were talking for a little bit and he pulled the trigger and offered me,” Hollins said. “He asked, ‘What do you want to do and what are you thinking?’ That’s when I committed.
