LINCOLN

Devine Ozigbo capped a 13-play, 80-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run and Nebraska held a 7-0 lead over Fresno State after one quarter in the season opener for both teams Saturday night.

The Bulldogs had a chance to break on top, but Kody Kroening missed a 32-yard field goal with 7:08 to play in the quarter. Redshirt freshman quarterback Chason Virgil opened 5 for 5 for 44 yards but threw behind Justin Allen on third down.

Ozigbo scored with 43 seconds left in the quarter. Attendance at Memorial Stadium was announced as 90,013.

Fresno State suffered a blow to its receiving corps before the game began, with senior Da’Mari Scott suspended for the opener.
