Fresno State quick hits: Bulldogs get to work on Incarnate Word

Fresno State started to delve into Incarnate Word on Thursday, running a scout period for its offense and defense for the first time, a sure sign that the season is rapidly approaching.

“That’s what I said on the field,” quarterback Chason Virgil said. “I was like, ‘That’s how we know the season is here – we’re running scouts now.’ It’s good, though. We’re nine days out and guys are excited for next Saturday.”

Virgil, who went to West Mesquite High just east of Dallas, said he has some friends that play for Incarnate Word, a championship subdivision-level program in San Antonio.
