Fresno State got a little lucky on its opening offensive play, built on that in taking a 31-point lead, then endured Tulsa’s second-quarter scoring blitz as the Bulldogs held a 31-21 lead at halftime of Saturday afternoon’s nonconference game at Bulldog Stadium.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Chason Virgil took the snap out of the shotgun and was about to throw what appeared to be a wide receiver screen when he was jarred by a teammate in the backfield and instead threw a one-hopper to Jamire Jordan.
Jordan was able to the gather it in, streak 44 yards down the sideline for what was ruled a lateral and fumble, and score to give Fresno State a 7-0 lead with 13:24 to go in the first quarter.
