For the better part of three quarters the Fresno State Bulldogs played a team game, the defense more times than not buoying the offense with a big play or a series of them, keeping relatively quiet a Boise State offense that had come in sizzling.
The past four games, the Broncos had rolled up an average of 520.3 yards and 46.3 points.
But when the Broncos got within two and too close for comfort with 9:05 to play, the Bulldogs had an answer that carried them to a 26-17 victory over the Broncos, completing a regular season with nine wins and a West Division title in the Mountain West Conference one year after winning just one game.
