Bulldogs’ QB Ford Childress out for season

The Fresno State football team lost two of its quarterbacks to season-ending injuries in a span of just over a week.

Bulldogs head coach Tim DeRuyter announced Sunday afternoon that junior quarterback Ford Childress will miss the remainder of the season due to an internal injury after undergoing surgery that morning.

Childress, a transfer from West Virginia, drew his first start of the year in Saturday’s 49-23 blowout loss to in-state rival San Jose State. In his lone start, the junior completed 19-of-32 passes for two touchdowns and one interception.

Childress traveled back with the team following Saturday’s Mountain West opener and was taken to the hospital upon the team’s return to Fresno.
