There’s only twelve regular season games a year in a college football season, so it hurts when you lose. It hurts even more when you lose like Florida State did at Miami on Saturday night, blowing a 20 point lead on the way to a 28-27 loss. That’s not an indictment of the defense, however, which played well. They held Miami to 6.4 yards per pass and 3.3 adjusted yards per rush.
Early in the game Florida State’s defense was executing well, even downright stifling the Miami Hurricanes offense. Florida State defensive back Levonta Taylor contributed to that, forcing an incredible pass breakup when he stuck his hand in an attempted reception by Miami receiver Lawrence Cager on the Hurricanes’ second drive and just raked it out.
