Florida State’s defense is starting from square one.
While the results were not as cataclysmic as the offensive side of the ball last year, Mike Norvell brought in defensive coordinator Tony White to run a new defensive scheme never before seen in Tallahassee. The 3-3-5 and White are off to a stellar start, especially from how his side of the ball communicated and understood their assignments during the scrimmage open to the media. Even with the early success, most players are battling for snaps, and the defense is not a finished product. These rankings are especially challenging because White talks endlessly about being extremely versatile, almost like a positionless defense.
