The two teams started the game hot. Both offenses were able to generate good looks and they were being converted. Florida State was able to forge an early 15-8 lead with a 6-0 mini run. However Georgia Tech had a response finishing the quarter on an 8-2 run to cut the FSU lead to 23-21 going into the second quarter.
The Yellow Jackets continued their strong play early in the second quarter. GT scored the first seven points of the second quarter to take a 28-23 lead.
