Each week, Florida State’s game becomes the biggest matchup of the season. This week is especially different. Against Virginia it was the ACC Opener. Miami was the rivalry, Pitt was the bounce back, Stanford was the “get right” spot. Four straight losses make the Wake Forest game critical, but that is to simply to keep bowl hopes alive. Florida State leads the series with Wake Forest 31-9-1. To think of Wake Forest as a peer pre-2015 would have gotten you laughed out of a room. Back in 2006, Florida State was in a weird space. Coming off of an 8-5 season with the legendary Bobby Bowden at the helm did come with an ACC Championship.
