When Florida and Florida State officials announced their annual rivalry game would take place on Black Friday, it was met with a less than enthusiastic response. The game had long held a spot on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, and moving it up a day seemed anything but gimmicky.
For Seminoles coach Mike Norvell, the idea of playing today didn’t seem all that far-fetched.
“This is a game that deserves attention,” he said. “It’s a game that deserves recognition for what it stands for and means. To be on Friday night, to be on national television, I love it.
