FSU football: Improved field position huge positive for Noles

One of the biggest issues for FSU football(among many) in 2018 was an inept offense usually starting their drives with poor field position.

If a team starts at their own 20 yard line and fails to get one first down, that likely means they’ll punt and the opposing offense will start their drive with excellent field position. Thus, a better chance of scoring.

That was the routine last year as the Noles were ranked No. 130 in regards to average starting field position. They were ranked No. 108 in terms of punt efficiency too.

That hasn’t been the case in 2019 as the Noles have enjoyed an advantage in their two ACC conference wins against Louisville and NC State.
