There’s no question FSU football has had sub-par special teams for years. It’s not they haven’t had the same caliber of athletes returning kickoffs as they have better players than most of the teams in the country.
However, for some odd reason the last few years have been nothing short of a disappointment when it comes to changing games via special team areas like punt return and kickoff return.
The Noles finally a lethal punt return game with sophomore D.J. Matthews being inserted into the fold about 10 games too late for Tarvarus McFadden.
I want to speak about kick off returns though since FSU head coach Willie Taggart spoke on that facet of the game in Monday’s Talk Show.
