FSU baseball’s Alex Lodise wins Dick Howser Trophy

Alex Lodise’s honor-laden offseason continues, with the Florida State shortstop being named the winner of the Dick Howser Trophy.

He joins outfielder J.D. Drew (1997) and catcher Buster Posey (2008) as FSU players who have earned the national player of the year award given out annually by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Lodise had a breakout season that helped lead FSU to the Super Regionals, ranking No. 9 in the country in hits (95), No 11 in total bases (170) No. 12 in hits per game (1.64) and No. 23 in batting average (.
