FSU baseball hires the MLB scout it was looking for

Professional scout Mike Metcalf is joining the Florida State baseball staff, Tomahawk Nation can confirm. Metcalf’s hire was originally reported by Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball.

New coach Mike Martin Jr. has hired the professional scout he has called a necessity for a modern FSU baseball staff. Metcalf is a veteran professional scout, currently serving as the Southeast Area Supervisor for the San Francisco Giants.

In addition to his pro connections to the Southeast, Metcalf is a Florida native. Metcalf is the son of longtime Sarasota High coach Clyde Metcalf.

The connections, scouting network and scouting knowledge that Metcalf brings can help FSU cast a broader net.
