3 Up, 3 Down: FSU rallies to take down LSU in game one of Baton Rouge Super Regional

The Florida State Seminoles (40-21) defeated the Louisiana State Tigers (40-25) by a final score of 6-4. The ’Noles and Mike Martin reached a 40-win season for the 40th consecutive season.

  • After Tim Becker singled and Mike Salvatore walked to put the ’Noles on first and second, Reese Albert stepped up to the plate with a mission. On the eleventh pitch of his at-bat, the sophomore went deep smashing his eighth home run of the season to tie it up in Baton Rouge in the top of the seventh:

The Jupiter native wasn’t finished and hit his second home run of the game to increase the Seminoles lead, 6-4 in the top of the ninth:

  • After two walks and a single loaded the bases, Becker continued to make his mark on the post-season and scored Nelson on a sac-fly to give Florida State its first lead of the game, 5-4.
