Recap: Newbie Chris Driedger backstops Panthers to 3-0 win over Predators

Chris Driedger made 27 saves in his first NHL start to backstop the Florida Panthers to a big 3-0 win over the Nashville Predators that snapped a three-game losing streak and kept the club in second place in the Atlantic Division.

The 25-year-old, making his first-ever appearance with Florida and fourth overall in the bigs, and his mates made head coach Joel Quenneville look like a genius after he quickly inserted the goaltender into the lineup after his recall from Springfield following Wednesday’s loss to the Washington Capitals.

On the other end of the ice, defenseman Anton Stralman scored his first two goals as a Panther to put the Cats up by two before Aleksander Barkov went top shelf.
