Hometown hero Patrick Maroon scored 5:50 into double overtime to give the St. Louis Blues a 2-1 win over the Dallas Stars, ending a taut goaltending battle between Jordan Binnington and Ben Bishop. Vince Dunn opened the scoring 13:30 into the first before Mats Zuccarello countered for Dallas 2:25 later. The teams would go almost seventy minutes before the “BIg Rig” won it by poking in a rebound after Robert Thomas ripped a shot off the post following a Tyler Bozak faceoff win. The 19-year-old Thomas also drew an assist on Dunn’s first postseason goal.
