NHL Postseason Caterwaul: Bruins rally in the third to take Game 1

The Boston Bruins scored two power-play goals early in the third period to erase a one-goal deficit and went on to defeat the Carolina Hurricanes by a 5-2 count in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final at TD Garden.

After former Florida Panthers skater Steven Kampfer opened the scoring 2:55 into the action, Carolina evened the game 47 seconds later on Sebastian Aho’s power-play marker and took the lead midway through the second when another ex-Cat, Greg McKegg lit the lamp.

Boston tied the game 2:25 into the final frame when Marcus Johansson scored with Jordan Staal off for boarding and forged ahead just 28 seconds later after Patrice Bergeron struck with Dougie Hamilton serving a roughing minor.
