Florida Panthers: Why the Cats need two defensemen on the man advantage

Related Topics: Florida Panthers

Over the past few seasons, the Florida Panthers coaching staff usually had four forwards and one defensemen on the man advantage. That scheme has not worked out so well, especially during the 16/17 campaign where the Cats power play ranked in the basement of the NHL. Using two defensemen could be something that this new coaching staff may want to consider, with hopes that it will possibly improve the man advantage.

One problem with having only one defensemen on the PP could be the odd breaks that go the other way (counter attack). The addition of another defensemen could stop (some) short-handed opportunities from arising and keeping the PP safe and sound.
