Women’s Tennis Closes Out FIU Invitational with Wins in Five of Six Doubles Matches

MIAMI – The FIU women's tennis team tabbed victories in five of its six doubles matches while adding wins in seven of 11 singles clashes during the final two days of the FIU Invitational this weekend.

The tandem of Yasmine Kabbaj and Ines Bekrar notched a pair of victories on Saturday to lead the charge. First, they posted a 6-4 win over USF's Amelie Boy and Margriet Timmermans before defeating FAU's Katerina Filip and Martina Kudelova 6-3.

Senior Basak Akbas and freshman Cecilia Alcobe-Garibay notched a 6-3 victory against Cecilia Alcobe-Garibay and Seira Shimizu of Purdue, while Andreea Velcea and Kristina Miletic recorded a 6-3 win versus FAU's Greta Schieroni and Carina Sommer.
