The Panthers defense held strong for the majority of the game, allowing just 13 shots and five shots on goal in the contest. They were led by 2024 Second Team All-CUSA honoree, goalkeeper Valery Restrepo. The junior standout. denied several Florida State chances, ending the contest with three saves.
After 31 minutes of tough defense from FIU, the Seminoles' Wrianna Hudson managed to find the back of the net at the 31:27 mark to give FSU a 1-0 lead into the half.
