ORLANDO, Fla. — FIU women's basketball (1-2) was defeated on the road by UCF (2-1) on Tuesday morning, 79-61.
The Panthers kept it close through the first half, scoring 13 points to the Knights' 16 in the first quarter, and ended the second frame down 32-27 heading into halftime. UCF piled on the points in the final two quarters, out-scoring the Panthers 47-34 in the final 20 minutes.
Senior Parris Atkins led the charge with a season-high 20 points, going 7-17 and a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line. Also a stout defender, the guard added on three steals to round out her stat-sheet.
