MIAMI (June 20, 2019) - Freshman Kamila Umarova of the FIU women's tennis team was named one of 14 honorees for the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award, the league office announced on Thursday.
In her first season with the Panthers, Umarova excelled on and off the court, penning a 3.97 GPA in international business while also going undefeated in doubles against conference opponents with partner Basak Akbas. Umarova was named to the First Team All-Conference Doubles Team, along with Akbas, and finished the season with her classmate ranked No. 64 in the ITA Doubles Rankings.
