MIAMI — FIU track and field's Amaya Bien-Aime and Michaelle Valentin were both recognized by Conference USA (CUSA) as weekly award winners, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Valentin, a graduate student thrower, earned Field Athlete of the Week while Bien-Aime, a first-year jumper, was named Freshman Athlete of the Week.
Valentin claimed the top spot in the hammer throw with a mark of 63.45 meters at the East Coast Relays this past weekend. She also finished second in the discus with a toss of 57.26 meters. She currently ranks first in CUSA in both hammer and discus.
