KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 3, 2017) -- FIU hit three home runs and blasted its way through its second game of day one of the Citrus Classic II, defeating Mercer 16-4 in the softball nightcap at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Florida Friday. The win gave FIU 26 runs in two games for the day. The Panthers are winners of three in a row, and are 13-5 on the season. Mercer is 9-10 after losing both Friday games at the tournament.
Six different Panthers had two hits each and two batters, redshirt senior Dani Mowry (Cocoa, Florida / Space Coast HS) and junior Julia Gilbert (Rialto, California) hit their first homers of the season.
