Seven was the number for FIU Friday night at the FIU ballpark. The Panthers pounced on Charleston Southern for seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to soar past the Buccaneers and win their seventh consecutive game. FIU is now 9-6 and CSU drops to 8-4.
However, before the Panthers could conquer the Buccaneers they had to climb out of an early 5-0 hole. CSU scored five runs off FIU starter Andrew George in 1 1/3 innings before the left-hander was lifted.
FIU chipped away at the deficit with two runs in the second and single runs in the third and fourth innings.
