EL PASO, Texas – FIU senior launched a three-run homer for the go-ahead and eventual winning run in a 6-5 win for the FIU softball team over UTEP in the final game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon.
The victory clinched a series sweep for the Panthers, who will now begin play as the No. 8 seed at the 2023 Conference USA Softball Championship beginning on Wednesday, May 10 at 3:30 p.m. ET vs. No. 5 seed Western Kentucky.
Lewis' three-run blast erased a 5-3 deficit faced by the Panthers after the Miners opened up a 5-3 advantage following a four-run third and a one-run fourth.
