FIU would come out pressing hard, eventually gaining the lion's share of possession in the first half. was controlling the attack with deft dribbling and strong passing, getting the ball into dangerous positions for the Panthers.
FIU's best opportunities came in the 17th minute when they would fire four shots in the space of one minute, all of them getting blocked before testing the keeper.
The Panthers would finish the first half with eight total shots and head into halftime tied at 0-0.
