FIU right-hander Chandler Raiden got Mason George to ground out to second base with the tying run at second and two outs in the top of the ninth inning to preserve FIU's 7-6 win over UTSA Thursday night in the opener of a three-game series at the FIU ballpark.
FIU improved to 20-14 on the season and 7-6 in Conference USA while UTSA dropped to 16-16 overall and 6-7 in conference play.
The final out of the night was part of some strong late-inning work from Alex Demchak and Raiden out of the FIU bullpen to seal a taut game.
