Old Dominion scored a run in the top of the ninth inning to break a tie and defeat FIU, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at Infinity Insurance Park.
The Monarchs (9-13, 2-4 Conference USA) salvaged one game of the three-game series with the Panthers (12-14, 3-3 C-USA).
ODU's Tommy Bell and Devon Adams started the ninth with back-to-back singles off FIU reliever Greyson Fletcher (0-1). Bell came around to score the go-ahead run on an error that snapped a 3-3 tie.
FIU freshman left-hander Will Saxton relieved Fletcher and struck out the side to keep it a one-run deficit.
