PORTLAND, Ore. – The FIU men's soccer program battled valiantly on the road but came up just short against No. 1 Portland, falling 2-1 Tuesday evening.
After trailing 1-0 for much of the night and playing a man down, fifth-year forward delivered the equalizer in the 70th minute, blasting a left-footed strike into the back of the net for his third goal of the season. The score leveled the match against the nation's top-ranked squad before Portland responded four minutes later with the game-winner.
The Pilots struck quickly, finding the net just 62 seconds into the match for a 1-0 advantage.
