Jacksonville State scored six runs in the top of the 12th inning to defeat FIU, 12-6, Friday night in the opener of a three-game series at the FIU ballpark.
The Gamecocks improved to 7-2. The Panthers dropped to 4-5.
Tied 6-6 in the 12th, JSU got three consecutive RBI singles to snap the tie.
FIU rallied to send the game into extra innings.
Down 5-1, the Panthers used solo home runs from Austin Shenton and Eddie Silva to help lead their comeback.
Silva was 3 for 5 with two solo home runs and three RBI.
