FORT MYERS – Florida Gulf Coast scored three runs in the third inning and held on to defeat FIU, 4-3, Wednesday night at Swanson Stadium in Fort Myers.
The Eagles (31-12) took the season series from the Panthers (21-24) by winning both meetings.
Richie Garcia's RBI single in the bottom of the third inning off FIU starter Will Saxton (1-2) broke a 1-1 tie. FGCU added another run on a fielder's choice RBI groundout by Kohl Gilmore.
FIU opened the scoring in the first inning.
Logan Allen doubled down the right field line and later scored on an error by Garcia.
