MIAMI (July 29, 2016) – The FIU men's basketball team took a break from summer conditioning and classes to brighten the lives of patients at the Holtz Children's Hospital in Miami on back-to-back Saturday's, July 9 and 16.
The Panthers visited with sick children, played video and board games with them, sat bedside and read books, and interacted with parents. This is the third-consecutive year that the men's basketball program has partnered with the Holtz Children's Hospital, and it will continue the relationship during the season.
"At Holtz we have children of all ages going through all types of things, but the one thing they have in common is their desire to get better, their resilience to overcome their physical obstacles," said Beda Martinez-Willis, child life specialist at Holtz Children's Hospital.
