MIAMI (October 2, 2017) – FIU football junior punter Stone Wilson (Nokomis, Fla./IMG Academy) has been named the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week, for the week ending Sept. 30, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. The honor is the first of Wilson's career.
Wilson punted five times for 229 yards, and an average of 45.8 yards-per-punt, in FIU's 30-29 come-from-behind win over Charlotte on Saturday, including a long of 56 yards and placed two inside the 20-yard line. That 56-yard punt couldn't have come at a better time, pinning the 49ers at their own two-yard line with 4:52 left in the game.
