MIAMI, FLA. (Oct.21, 2017) –The FIU women's tennis team had a strong showing during day two of 2017 ITA Regional Championships, picking up seven victories (five singles, two doubles) on Saturday afternoon in Athens, Georgia.
In the first round of singles consolation, junior Maryna Veksler defeated USF's Juliana Cardosa, 6-1, 6-3 and senior Nerma Caluk downed Mercer's Katie Sidor, 6-0, 6-1. Sophomore Ulyana Grib beat UNF's Montano Lucia 6-0, 6-3 while senior Mina Markovic lost to UCF's Silvia Bordes 6-2, 6-1.
In the second round, Veksler won against FSU's Andrea Garcia 6-3, 6-4 and Caluk defeated Giorgia State's Damira Muminovic 6-3, 2-6,10-5.
