MIAMI (June 8, 2018) – Head Coach Katarina Petrovic announced the addition of Turkish standout Basack Akban to FIU women's tennis squad on Friday, as the Panthers bolster their lineup for the 2018-19 season.
Akban, a native of Istanbul, Turkey, has ranked as high as No. 294 in the ITF singles junior ranking (02/26/18) and No.1172 in the women's doubles WTA ranking (04/18/16).
"We're excited to welcome Basak Akban to our program this fall," Petrovic said. "Basak is a top junior player and her experience playing in some of the most prestigious tournaments in Europe will make an immediate impact to our overall team strength.
