MIAMI (July 14, 2016) – Incoming FIU women's track and field athlete Gabby Rains will represent Canada in the discus in the upcoming IAAF World under-20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Rains, who is a native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, recorded a PR of 49.53 meters in the discus to win the event at the 2016 Canadian Track & Field Championships in Edmonton on July 7. Her mark not only qualified Rains for the IAAF World under-20 Championships, but broke the championship's record which stood for 23 years. Rains signed with FIU last Fall and will compete for the Panthers beginning this Fall.
