MIAMI – FIU junior punter Daton Montiel has been selected to the 2023 watch list for the Ray Guy Award, which is presented annually to college football's most outstanding punter by the Augusta Sports Council.
Montiel is one of 49 student-athletes named to the prestigious list after averaging 42.1 yards over 69 punts last season. The Pompano Beach, Fla., native also boomed 13 kicks over 50 yards, including a long of 63 yards, and placed a total of 17 punts inside the 20-yard line.
In 2022, Montiel totaled 69 punts that totaled 2,907 yards and forced 37 fair catches.
