MIAMI (Jan. 19, 2019) - To play well, you have to eat well. It was with that sentiment in mind that brought the FIU softball team the idea of having a "Chopped" inspired competition to teach players healthy eating options.
FIU softball and FIU Athletics Nutritionist Amanda Fernandez teamed up with Chartwells to hold the cooking competition on Friday. The student-athletes were split into groups and given ingredients that any typical college student would have access to, which the Panthers turned into delicious dishes. Participants were also given a limited amount of time to create different meals, and were judged on creativity, presentation, taste, and quality.
