DELAND, Fla. -- FIU struck early against host Stetson with a six-run third inning Wednesday night en route to a 10-6 win and a two-game sweep of the Hatters at Melching Field in DeLand.
With the victory, the Panthers (11-7) won their fourth-straight series. FIU has now won nine of its last 11 games before Conference USA play begins Friday. The Hatters dropped to 7-12.
In the top of the third inning, the Panthers got some help from Stetson starter Austin Bogart (0-2), who walked Derek Cartaya and hit Javier Valdes with a pitch.
