MIAMI (Oct. 30, 2016) – The 2016 Panther Invitational was shortened due to weather as Sunday's action from the FIU Tennis Courts was canceled.
This year's tournament got through doubles play of Saturday before rain forced the postponement of the reminder of day two action. Saturday's singles action was moved to Sunday, however weather plagued the final day forcing the invitational to be shortened.
On Saturday, FIU collected three doubles wins, claiming the championship of Flight 1, as well as a pair of third-place finishes. The duo of Andrea Lazaro and Nerma Caluk defeated USF's Nicole Dzenga and Vanja Klaric, 6-3, for the Flight 1 crown.
