Another season has come and gone and with Florida having advanced to its second consecutive SEC championship game. Gator Nation should be happy, but it’s not. Not as happy as it would be if a dynamic offense lead it to Atlanta instead of a dominating defense.
Gators fans long for the days of Steve Spurrier’s Fun ‘n’ Gun offense when Florida not only won, it did so utilizing a dizzying aerial precision attack behind the likes of Danny Wuerffel, Rex Grossman, Ike Hilliard, Jaquez Green and Reidel Anthony. Often overlooked was the Gators’ stable of running backs in that era, exceptional players like Ericht Rhett, Fred Taylor and Earnest Graham.
